Personally I got more out of the PARODY of wonderwall than the original
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy1ueZf1WMQ

I am kind of one of those people who think if it comes from the USA it blows...

I thought OASIS was OK I guess, but never put much thought into it.
As BAZ will tell you I tend to like experimental euro music that involves banging on metal devices whilst setting things on fire...

I do I was more a fan of BLUR than of Oasis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyrnxiKY7sA

However I did like the collaboration between the Chemical Brothes and Noel Gallagher

Does anyone like British rap?

Hmmmm................Oasis as Shopping Mall Pistols you say?
Interesting. Actually, the fact that they covered a Slade song, kinda makes me like 'em a bit......
Yeah, people should probably skip any event with Guy DJing.
Might as well visit a construction site, and have 'em all dress in black whilst grinding metal and riveting steel.
I miss Test Dept.

Guy, NWW are one of my favourites! It's not something you expect people to have even heard of. Give me some banging noises and screaming any day; it beats that awful commercial stuff that I've been pillorying on this thread.

Too right, Baz, and you would want to skip an event with me DJing too. I can clear a very large room in a few seconds.

wow. im so all over the place with all of this.
music falls directly into 2 catogories.
1. music i enjoy
2. music that completely sucks.
hahahah. however, at different points in my life or a musicians career, there have been jumps from one to the other.
my first record that i bought was "coming up" by paul mc cartney and wings. first favorite band was devo, followed by depeche mode, duran duran (honesty is a bitch!) and u2.
this had led me to sex pistols, clash, jam, buzzcocks, joy division, dead kennedys, black flag, bad brains, minor threat, dys, ssd, dri etc........ ad nausiem(no, thats not a band).
way into late 70s dylan, all johnny cash, hank the 1st and 3rd. willy nelson. and more currently, ben harper, alot!
then all the 90s hardcore and punk. newer brit pop such as richard ashcroft, oasis and there ilk (cant help it). absolutely love the new depeche mode and the new tragedy lp. so , im all over the place. i also collect old roots americana music,
as for the early industreal (no im not talking about the trent reznor demos) such as, e.n., throbbing gristle etc... i have and can listen to it, but ill never put it on myself.
one of my best friends moved to n.y.c. 3 years ago and is currently in the employ of mr, mrs genesis p.
i also did a tour with cradle of filth, whom i had never heard until the night before my departure. i thought it would be the worst ever and did it for the cash alone, but ended up having a blast and completely loving there show. although ive still never heard any of there cds.
so there it is, if your ever wondering if your taste in music is correct, just p.m. me and ill correct you if you need it. hahahahah. i love this damn board!
by the way, you should all listen to a band from baltimore m.d. called lungfish. there awesome. the singer daniel higgs also has recently put out a whole l.p. of jewsharp music called "the magic alphabet" . but id say that that one may not be for everyone.
oh, and this post didnt even get into my guilty pleasures, heheheh

Getting back to the original thrust of this thread, music to HATE, there is a recent phenomenon on the popular music scene (which I hate in general anyway) that I find particularly vile, called Lily Allen. The mockney half rapped, half sung disposable drivel that she emanates is bound to capture the hearts of the trendy, oikish music buying public who can identify with it so readily, but I would rather have sulphuric acid poured into my ears.

I'm blissfully ignorant of that one but the worst pop song ever has to be Walk of Life by Dire Straits, as I mentioned earlier on this thread.

When I see young people today puncturing holes in themselves and sculpting their hair into tsunamis in the name of fashion, it makes me glad to be old.

Guy-

This is unnerving and disconcerting, but it seems we share the same musical interests as well... Shocked

How about Japanese noise? Masonna, Angel N Heavy Syrup, Merzbow, Incapacitants, Government Alpha...

Not really noise, but from the old Industrial scene, my favorite band is Cabaret Voltaire and all the spin-offs from that, mainly Richard H. Kirk's stuff, especially Sandoz and more of the later electronica stuff. I love the early CV stuff, Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Psychic TV and more.

Of course I also love folk music from the Appalachians, old gospel music, 70's NYC/DC punk rock, early 80s California punk rock, and more.

I love the Government Alpha tracks on the Extreme Music from Japan compilation. Some of the Masonna ones are good too. Recently I've got some Atrax Morgue which is worth a listen.

Early Cabaret Voltaire is good, but they went commercial, as did Throbbing Gristle with their solo projects. Whitehouse have stayed good and difficult.
