Forgive the dramatic thread title but this is a pretty major deal if you read on.

A few years ago, a Micronaut seller in Italy was selling some "too good to be true" stuff to U.S. sellers, never shipping and pocketing the cash. Sales of upwards of $1,000 completely lost due to this user who shill bid on his own auctions or did not ship items paid for. His past ids include: k.k.k.1969, cesarerobots, paronellicesareitalia & karavats69

He now has suddenly appeared on U.S. and some European eBay sites as baronkarlo.

There has been some discussion in the Micronaut/Microman community about this guy, but he is also selling more traditional "giant robot" stuff as well. His auctions are here:
http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/baronkarlo

Many too good to be true items, and after cross referencing e-mail addresses we have from 2 years back to now, we were 90% sure this was the same scammer.

Then tonight I did some deeper searching. I have no doubt that baronkarlo is the same scammer as years ago since he is clearly causing problems in Italy as well. I did my best Google tricks to dig this info up. If anyone on the list is registered on eBay Italy and can look up past auctions by baronkarlo please do share.

Can anyone who speaks Italian dig around in this Italian forum and find out more about baronkarlo? Because after doing a Google search I found this:
http://www.giocattolivecchi.com/forum/forum_assistenza_detail.asp?id=12282

Translated, it's a message posted in February 16, 2011 which translates as:
"Fake AUCTION ON ANOTHER PLATFORM baronkarlo
attention guys, another auction of our friendly and mischievous baronkarlo, MACH PATROL! "

Did some more Google searching and found this mysterious Ampzilla listing on eBay Italy from February 22, 2011 that was pulled; presumably after he was outted by that Italian toy board:
http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170605993435

Now look at the Ampzilla that is up there right now on U.S. eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170635871506

Now also look here on the same forum; another user pleaing for non-receipt of
material:
http://www.giocattolivecchi.com/forum/forum_assistenza_detail.asp?id=10370

"Hello to tt I bought on ebay from 10 December baronkarlo `a sticker album and I was sent by ordinary parcel with D6SJ0P n A piece of thorium orbiter that we had contracted out the auction and then came with me 12/28/2010 Recommended 14283015805-9 n blue GIG import a catalog in 1979 contracted on December 19 at the fair in Novegro, then more at the fair I gave him a new protector Gordian never played in exchange for a Centaurus microns which would send me, but I never nn was sent! and I have made it even more my Gordian. "

And another one here:
http://www.giocattolivecchi.com/forum/forum_assistenza_detail.asp?id=12215

"NOTE: AUCTION FRAUD ON EBAY USER Megalomaniacs baronkarlo OR EMPEROR
Okkio boys, the other a `scam the user's baronkarlo ON EBAY:
http://cgi.ebay.it/Megaloman-/170603377643?pt=Robot&hash=item27b8c0f3eb
It is a scam BEWARE! "

The auction listing in Italy is:
http://cgi.ebay.it/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170603377643#ht_543wt_1056

Pulled off. But guess where it is now?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170635305303

Also, here is another post from that Italian toy board I mentioned:
http://www.giocattolivecchi.com/forum/forum_vintage_detail.asp?id=484585

"Bad, unreliable, and why not a thief and a swindler. Beware of this individual Of whom am I speaking? oh, I tell you, I tell you, it loads both on Ebay and John that more than one, some are used in a respectful way, other to rub the `naive guy.

But first read the story.

About a year and a half ago the guy sells on ebay quite a lot of Micron, the contact, we feel over the telephone and convinced him to sell off auction ... postepay course.

Oh, how I pay the ... total silence, stop by the communications guy, and soon also ceased all my hopes to get the lot for which I paid. Spend a few weeks and with the data in my possession to sue the Police, they tracked him down and call and sort it out on a short and reasonable but he is a veteran of these things does not care and choose to meet all `legal process . Spend more than a year without moving anything at all, let alone justice, and the guy writes me an email, saying that John is a user who has repented and wants to fix me soon send the money he owes me. Well, I say, then I am looking forward (and a little ass) and maybe a happy ending. The week will happen and you again several times, continues to promise never see action.

Finally we come to the conclusion that the best solution may be not so difficult to get reimbursement from eurini money ... ... but rather through the sale value of goods, and goods has, as I see it all the time to sell robots and the like on gv and ebay.

And he says well placed, but I promise you promise today and tomorrow, the guy does not send anything contrary to my last reminder, and rightly so tired you know how I respond?

Leave me alone, do not bother me more, I'll see you in court and there give you
the money!

There seems normal? I do not.

I also want to tell users John and Mod that I did not think this posting only animated by a spirit of revenge and retaliation but also by the belief that it is fair to give warning of the risk you take to deal with such an individual. Ah, I forgot, the guy calls himself John on K2, baronkarlo on ebay, but these are two utilities "respectable" the other do not know, except that with which I rubbed and I think it is no longer active. "

FOLKS, BARONKARLO IS A SCAMMER! If you or anyone you know is bidding on any of his auctions right now you have been warned. If I were you I would cancel your bids and if you spot shill bidding, report it ASAP.

Sheesh!!!

PLEASE PASS THIS INFORMATION ALONG TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO MIGHT BID ON AUCTIONS LIKE THIS!

Sorry for the multiple posts, but every toy forum I go to (and it’s not really that many) new info comes up. Like check this Mego Museum thread where folks are drooling over rare items as well:
http://megomuseum.com/community/showthread.php?t=58718

thorion from Italy posts in the group: "ATTENTION this is a very bad seller .the avatar of this bandit is a picture of a good friend dead month ago,DON'T BUY!!!!!!
BEWARE!!!!!!"

HOLY %@^!^!@ CRAP! baronkarlo's eBay avatar picture is of someone in the toy collector community in Italy who is dead?!?!?!?

Well what about: k.k.k.1969? When he scammed people back in 2009 in the Micronauts world, that is the handle he used. Kind of catchy and not racially charged at all!

And yes, Ampzilla is cool. Now if only some legit seller in Italy (where most of them were released) can come forward, everyone would be happy. Wink

Another update, needed some good news after researching this debacle so I went on eBay to look for some Microman stuff. And I spotted a rare Microman knock-off item from a seller in Italy.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170634453569

The seller has excellent feedback (4,300+ positive) and has an 8 year history on eBay. So I e-mailed him about that Microman knock-off and asked about scoring Italian Micronauts stuff since U.S. sellers are genuinely looking for a decent dealer in Italy. I also casually mentioned 'baronkarlo' and this is the message I just received in response:
"I'm sorry for you friend ,
Baronkarlo continue to fraud peeople , have
frauded like 20.000 euros to my friends & he continue to do auctions on
ebay , now can bid only the rest of the world , not italian's ebayers ( he
blocked )
He is just reported to the police in italy but we wait the
justice go on .
inform your friends on websites to not bid on his auctions
& to not contact him outside ebay.
i will control for micronauts , thanks
for the explanations on this item "

Odd comfort in knowing he's got a bad seller history on eBay in Italy. Explains why auctions are pulled down and hopefully when eBay U.S. cross references we can get some real action on this Carlo clown.

UPDATE: Good lord! Now that supposedly "good" seller I spotted killed off the auction after I "heads up"ed him and now he's relisted at a $249 "Buy It Now" and a "Make Offer"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170638320714

Good grief. Is there such a thing as a decent non-scammy seller in Italy?!?!?!?

It makes you wonder how hard it would be to find this joker... Give a fake eBay home address, take all payments through paypal with a fake address, at some level his credit card is tied to his accounts... and hence his real address? this guy needs MAJOR MICRO JUSTICE!!!
On another note isnt it crap how were just collecting toys for fun and getting our wallets r*ped in the process... Rolling Eyes

I found some gorgeous Micros today and would almost certainly have bid, then I noticed the seller's name. Thanks for the heads up, 'Zone.

I got scammed recently but it was over an Ashley Wood toy, or I would have posted here. In the end I got a refund because I threatened and threatened, but at the same time I was looking further and further into it and finding out how powerless I was in an international transaction over 45 days old.
