Been wondering, what was the exact Japanese concept thinking to those lines? I've heard the idea was the sizes they are where the size they'd be if they where 'real' and that they disguised things as toys etc to hide in our world....That right?

Also, what the fuck is 'Assemble Borgs concept? Whats Rumina Borg? I keep seeing this stuff but its the thinking behind it I'd like know what its about?

Cheers.

The exact thinking behind the Microman/Diaclone/Micro Change lines was the size they are where the size they’d be if they were ‘real’ and that they disguised things as toys etc. to hide them in our world. Only they weren’t toys disguised as toys per se, they were disguised as toys disguised as toys. But really they were just toys all the time. Clever, eh?

The whole fucking concept of Assemble Borg is that you can Assemble them. But you have to take them apart first. And Rumina Borg is like a cross between Wile E. Coyote and Scooby Doo. I kid you not.

Hope this helps.

Microman: 3 3/4" figures that exist in the real world at that exact size who fight Acroyears of the same size... Or larger. Some of the manga stories show Acroyears transforming in larger “gaijin”-like sizes.

Micro-Change: Those were items that were 1-to-1 scale with the real world and were intended to be used as weapons/fighters to help kids—and the “New Microman” (which were the same size as the “old” Microman) fight Acroyear. Thus guns & watches that could be used as robots. Imagine the kids being “spies” with gear that helps them fight off Acroyear until Microman is needed and then the toys “change” into robots, vehicles and tools that Microman could use to fight the good fight.

Diaclone: Scale of the items is no longer connected 1-to-1 with the real world. They had “drivers” that were vaguely connected to the Microman stuff, but it was really their own world and line.

From a business perspective, Microman was created to allow for cheaper toy production. Henshin Cyborg figures are huge, and the cost of that much oil based resin was high. Thus “shrink” Henshin Cyborg down and have some playsets that are bigger. The Micro-Change and Diaclone came around from better engineering and toy production. That stuff is still amazing and intricate and very few common off-the-shelf toys have that level of “clockwork” engineering. Even toys that come close have horrible quality. Pick up a vintage Microman piece from the 1970s and you can see the quality right there. No comparison.
