I thought I'd do a review on the latest Cure Boogieman Doll.
The figure has the standard twistable wrists, ankles, head & arms.
This figure is a bit of the departure from the usual Boogies with visible insides, but it still has a lot to offer.
This time Cure used the Goner head from Secret Base. The head has not male pattern baldness, but an exposed brain.

The head itself was molded in Transparent Day-GLow Green.

The figure comes shown with the outfit tied around his waist, but as you can see below there is actually a full jumpsuit

The black stripe is a full body zipper. The outfit can be worn either way

Underneath, as wit hthe usual Boogies, he is anotomacally correct. Embarassed

Thanks Hypno. I have no problem with Bazza taking the p*ss. It is great to have him back. Reminds me of the good old days talking to him on the phone until he was bleary eyed.

The thing about these cure figures is that they are another case of Japanese toy collectors becoming TOY DESIGNERS by throwing vintage toys into a blender and coming up with a "NEW" designer toy that is really just a rehash of bits of their own collection. Unfortunately there are not enough collectors of varied toys to pick up these influences. I have been meaning to do a post on some of these things, but it takes time for me to dig all the reference photos up.
The Cure & Secret Base toys often pay tribute to SOMETHING. It is just tough for a western Audience to know what it is.
The Cure Boogieman toys initially appeared as a cross between 60's CAVEMAN troll dolls and a Killer Tomato toy used as it's head. The bodies were Transparent to show cyborg style internal organs.

The figures contine to mutate and take on new influences with each release.

Hey Guy, have you ever done any Mego type customs with visible innards? I've been hoping the Phantom Limb guy from Bif Bang Pow! would be out by now, and be a candidate for treatment. I would imagine you would have great reference ideas for something like that. http://www.megomuseum.com/?p=860

BAZ' posts make me laugh. He reminds me of Aurther from "On the Buses".

"James and his first wife divorced in 1940 mainly as a result of James's many relationships with other women; it was a pattern that continued throughout his life."

Oh you naughty, naughty boy........

Hey don't blame me. I just find goofy toys and post pix of them.
Yeah I'll eventually pick up the Phantom Limb figure and I am certain I will purchase some to customize as well. I still can't beat that warehouse find of affordable 8" Shonen Cyborgs that keep getting listed on ebay.

Are these sorts of things made by small independent companies in limited production runs then?
