I first became obsessed with the Bounty Hunter / Secret Base DX Kuns and then found out what they were based on.

My OCD made me get duplicates so I could have a shelf with symmetry.

I believe I'm done now. Unless I get the bug to track down the micronaut suits.

Thanks to hypnotator for helping me get started, with my money spending spree. Wink

Really nice, but you can't stop there! There are so many more Dokuroking items to get! I think you could definitely use some of the Charactics Dokurokings!

Oh yeah, the Charactics ones. I think someone was selling the set on skullbrain a while back. I wonder if it's still for sale. Smile

They show up pretty regularly and for really decent prices too. Cheaper now than they were to buy at the shows!

He's got to be the most reproduced and reworked character in the whole HC line. Just a skelly with a few spikey bits added but it's a design that really works. Maybe it's because he has a weird ambiguity. Is he a skeleton wearing armour, or a fusion between skeleton and armour? Plus the bone costume sits on top of the figure, which you wouldn't think would work.

I didn't want to encourage Mars to spend more money, but the set lacks the KWJr version, which to me would be the obvious next addition.

I actually have the KWJr but I don't like the sculpt. I was going to have it customized so that the paint job was closer to the full size vintage / reissue suits, with a little putty added to make the teeth similar too...but I don't have much shelf space left so I had the commission canceled.

Once I get him back he may join his cousins as is, we'll see.

Before the Torgs:

The first time I saw pix of the KWJr Kaijin I didn't like them much. It was the proportions, which are child like, big heads, in keeping with Shonen Cyborg. They have grown on me, though, and I like the fact that the Dokuroking Jr is so different from the Torg.

Torg is the name of the British 8” version of Dokuro King. In Mars’ first picture, the two 8” Dokuro Kings on the green and blue bodies are actually Torgs. The bodies they are diasplayed on are KWJr “reissues”.
In the 1970s, British company Denys Fisher released three 8” figures and some costumes and accessories based on the Japanese company Takara’s Henshin Cyborg line. Some parts were scaled down and some were re-used from the 8” Japanese figures. Henshin Cyborg was re-named Cyborg, King Walder became Muton and Dokuro King became the Torg.
In Mars’ first picture, the 12” Dokuro King on the right with the glossy finish is the vintage 1970s issue, and the matt one on the left is the recent reissue. Both are by Takara. In the second picture, the fatter 8” Dokuro King on the blue body is a recent “reissue” KWJr Dokruro King Jr.
I say “reissue” because KWJr, or King Walder Junior is not really a reissue. In the 1970s, Takara released 8” Shonen (boy) Cyborg, and when they reissued him recently, they did 8” versions of King Walder, too. Previously, the only 8” King Walder was the British Muton figure. Confused yet?
