Wondering if anyone was interested in starting a thread on these heads. There are no real rules per se. Charactics started making these heads at the time of the Takara Cyborg reissues. As there were more heads than reissues, I would imagine everyone has an interesting take on how to display them.

Nice pic, Guy. I like the custom hands and the black inner machinery is a nice touch.

These are rare, so it's quite something to get one as a freebie, Stan.

I've got some of these coming my way soon and I'll be customizing some bodies for them too.

My ones made of a harder plastic so I never bothered putting it on a figure. Did they come in the 1/6th scale as well then?

If anyone wants my one I'll swop it for a complete boxed Airfix Eagles figure-anyone apart from the Medic as I have him. Wink

Yes they did, in fact the Elquebird heads for 12" figures are more common, although still pretty rare. In Guy's pic above, the two-tone black head is on a 12" Neo figure and you can see an opaque head for an 8" figure back right. I think that's the same glow one you have, Stan. The two-tone heads are much rarer than single colour ones, but Guy is the English speaking World authority on these and pretty much all the rare non-Takara Henshin Cyborg related stuff, and i'm just repeating stuff he has told me. Confused
The origins of the extraordinary Elquebird design can be found on this thread:
http://visibleinnards.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4951
And my green Elquebird (complete with custom painted Neo body) can be found here:
http://visibleinnards.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1015
Having said that these are rare, the basic 12" single colour ones have been popping up on Yahoo Japan for seriously low prices. I've got a batch on the way so I'll have a little trawl now and stick a post on the auctions for anyone else who might be interested.

Other than the resin MicroElequebird kit, The Elequebird cyborg & shonen cyborg heads are all made of vinyl.
Yeah the smaller heads seem a bit stiffer, but it's the same type of vinyl used on everything else you find out there.
Those big soft Skull & robot heads feel all cool and bouncy, but the details are pretty bland when you compare them to your little shonen heads.
The reason for making them of a harder vinyl was to have those tight details.

Like all vinyls, Hot water or a hair dryer work just fine for popping them onto a figure. Plus dropping the GID head into hot water is pretty cool.
Love the immediate transferrence of GLOW energy.
Glow in the dark was the most common of the shonen heads.
That is what I assume you have.

If not, LMK I might be interested. Not a lot of variety of colors on the little heads. Most were SOLID color vinyl as well.

Nice! I take it those are rare colour variations of the 12” Elquebird head, but the orange machinery Neo must surely be a custom? It doesn’t look painted, though; it looks like the plastic is that colour. What is the secret, Guy?
The transparent heads get me more and the blue one is very nice.

Love the stag beetles in the background, and again that blue walder Jnr with shonen inards looks great.

The clear blue head looks great too, as does the orange engine in the Neo
