These painted Wonderfest figures look so great Hypno!
The purple and smoke colors are the best!

At last! I finished the little buggers. More work in these than the Micro KWIIs, but worth it. Thanks again to Zira for getting this wonderful set for me, and all the extra Microforce bodies I needed to make it up, and a double thanks to Dokuroking for putting me in touch with her and also for sending me tons of reference pix of his Neo Tector.

I used quite a bit of license in the end, though. I had already finished the transparent chest panels and painted up to them with silver. Changing it all to black would have involved painting carefully up the tiny edges all over again and masking it off with tiny bits of tape all over again for highlighting. I just couldn’t face it! I had missed the lower panels too. I also couldn’t face painting perfect stripes on the legs as per the original. But the pix were invaluable as reference for everything else.

The other departure I made was to colour the panel on the back of his helmet transparent blue instead of black. This lets the light through.

It’s a crummy photo but you get the idea.

The Micro Neo Tector is nice but Microlady Apollo Z is sexy!

I’ve no idea why SVL decided to do a female version of this classic character but what a great idea. And what a hot babe! As Duchamp would say, “L.H.O.O.Q.”

My new camera phone doesn’t macro as well as the old camera so the face close ups are disappointing.

The original Apollo Z has blue “whites” of his eyes and back of head, but I used some license again. For some reason you get two heads exactly the same in this set so I did a half human variation.

And you get a human head. Here she is presenting a Victoria sponge to belatedly celebrate the momentous occasion of VI’s 5th birthday!

Who’s the daddy?

“Come on baby, we’re too cool for this joint. Let’s split!”

Hypno your skils with a paint brush are amazing, the way you've finished these is really great - a pleasure to see them.

The finsih looks like the figures have been powder coated and captures the silver of the original Apollo Z's suit very well

Thanks boys! They were as much work as a full sized model kit, the areas to paint being smaller but the level of intricacy upping the ante. As I’ve mentioned before, posting pix here and getting your comments of approval is the icing on the cake, but blowing them up to eight times life size in some shots ups the ante even more in terms of getting the detail good.

I’ve got another beautiful SVL set as yet unstarted and I might leave it on a back burner for a few months while I get on with other things. But watch this space for a different Wonderfest project very soon. It’s finished, I just need a sunny day and time for pix.

Fantastic work on both, well done! love the paint effects. The Cy Protector suit looks a bit Guyver-ish to my eyes, which is no bad thing.
