Awesome, thanks micromanzone. They look awesome. We are getting a freaking heat wave over here on the west coast of Canada, and I had zero motivation to do sweet f'all this weekend except sit in front of the fan(hangs head in shame).

Great stuff! The first pics is very Transformers, the early days of Diaclone right?

Ah got ya, didn't know the difference between Micro-Change and Diaclone.
Thanks for the education!

Don't forget Diakron, Convertables (sp?), Microman vehicles repurposed for TMNT, Gigi releases, Joustra, etc. etc. There were quite a lot of branding attempts with the Takara SF lines.

Is there any way you can make these grab-able on your flickr? Right now it just allows the spaceball .gif or whatever it is. It would be much appreciated if possible. Thanks!

The exception to this is Interstellar Emperor Death King who has a diaclone scale pilot in the cockpit of his chest gun. It's sort of a line connecting piece I guess. Similar to Robotman in that it is part Henshin Cyborg part Microman.

Thanks folks! As far as Diaclone goes, none of this is really connected to Diaclone. Diaclone was a parallel toy line Takara came up with at the time.

The easy way to differentiate is basically, Microman/MicroChange had items that were 1:1 scale. So the guns, cameras, microscopes, watches, radios, are all MicroChange since they exist 1:1 in the real world... And they could also use Microman as the companions/drivers...

Diaclone had those very tiny drivers and were scaled down from their real world equivalents if that existed. Like Diaclone cars, planes, trains and robots with small drivers.

Well, there were also the Rescue Servo Machines, which were wind-up down-scaled Microman vehicles with little pilot figures about the same size. There's some guesses that Takara was thinking of moving Microman this direction and the capsules that came with Rescue Microman figures had little "launch tubes" in them with a miniaturized Microman figure inside them as well--perhaps the intended "link" between the scaling down to "Inchman" which became the Diaclone series under Studio Nue's design direction.

As it is, note that once Microman switched over to New Microman, most of the new figures were the robots themselves, and most of the traditional figures were just rereleases. There were only four New Microman-original action figures more or less of the traditional type: Microborg (which was designed to be interchangeable with MicroRobot W and was Titan-like), Hyper Microman (the kit figure that came with the Biosuit), New Acroyear and bendable Acrosatan. All the other Microman figures were just reissues in (mostly) new colors with new names and numbers. I almost wonder if they came close to just moving entirely to Diaclone at that point.

Fun fact: the Diaclone release in Italy was licensed by the same company as i Micronauti (Gig) and they had an advertisement that refered to Diaclone as coming "from the world of i Micronauti" and the pilots were called "Dianauti". They even used the Mego-style rubber "mushroom missiles" for the launchers.
