Here is another humble paint job, nothing on a par with Guyís feats of engineering, but worth sharing if just to keep his wondrous thread going.

Rusty Borg! I was inspired by the Ashley Wood toys Iíve been collecting and way they paint the plastic to look like metal. I used a series of sponged on colours and washes. Unfortunately Itís difficult to see the full effect through the smoked plastic.

Of course this is just a vehicle for displaying the Robotman head. Iíve got the bug for customising all these extra display bodies now.

Here he is with my other Robotman headed custom, Piss Yellow Borg.

No need to compare. You work best with paints.
Great stuff Hypno.

I tend to work best in an interchangeable parts environment.

It is a hatch that displays mecha underneath

I figured if I was going to do a membros, I might as well do the microman figure mego got the parts from.

I tried to come up with something inspired by Astro Zombies

Hey Guy, Fantastic customs.

You might be able to answer a question about a line of toys/figures that's so far eluded me......

In the left hand side of the picture with the Astro-Zombie figure, whose name also eludes me, there's a purple moulded figure with doll-like eyes. I used to have a full set of these in the 80's, they had little stoppers in the bottom, and inside them were little bits of paper, which I presume were either catalogues, Bios or codes of some sort, can't quite remember...

Any ideas? or any chance you could take a clearer pic of it?!

The purple "owl" looking thing? I too would like to know more about this?

As usual, a wealth of stuff in the backgrounds. I see the Swamp Thing figure I could never obtain - is he an Unman or something?

I love the metallic silver Elquebird heads. Are they an official colour variation or your own paintwork, Guy?

I was sort trying to pay tribute to the movie poster.
(The actual move is SLIGHTLY less dramatic than the poster art)

I had those heads staring me in the face for about a year or so and eventually decided that NOBODY else is going to buy them at 800 yen, so I'd do a custom. I wanted to show all the sculptural details.

Yes, my collection tends to be filled with loads of strange figures and customs of strange figures. I have all the Swamp thing monsters. I think they are lurking around on the "Man eating plant shelf."

As far as the doll eyed creature. There were different toylines of "Troll inspired" space alien toy sets. these were the REMCO Extra-terrestrials.

Rather than customize figures, I prefer to customize cyborg bodies to DISPLAY the vinyl heads

Thanks Guy! SUPERB custom work as always, its almost as if youve created (extremely viable) characters that didnt previously exist... but that fit strongly within a wealth of styles/influences...
yes ASTRO ZOMBIES is not even a good bad movie...
The EXTRATERRESTRIALS are GREAT, the purple owl looking one is my fave by far.
Thanks for sharing! Smile

fantastic Guy! thanks for that, I didn't think I'd ever see those again. The ones I bought in the 80's didn't come in a blister pack, they were just in one of those fold-out trays with a tie-on tag. the purple one was definitely my favourite, although they all have their charms.

"Bidibidibidi, holy shit Buck!" What's that Twiki figure in the background too?! I've only ever seen the smaller one with knee-joints and the taller wind up one...

Fantastic collection, thanks for sharing
