I just got the Devilman from the reissue Henshin Collection
and the clear cyborg head appears to be heat sealed onto the neck.
Does anyone have one of these? Is this something Takara did on these cyborgs?
I also have the Ultraman Jack but I don't remember the clear head being so attached.
I noticed the vinyl was sweating a little from being under the Devilman head
but I can't believe it caused the head to fuse to the neck like this.

Believe it Dave. At that point in time according to my sources, Takara was experimenting in plastics/vinyls using lower petroleum formulas do the oil crisis. As a result melty cyborg parts. Mazinga and Casshan suffer really badly too. I'd try a hair dryer first. I had ok success just putting plastic wrap between the layers that got gooey against each other. It's really shitty though.

Thanks man.
I was trying to squeeze it, thinking I could get the trapped air inside to pop the seal, but it wasn't budging.
I'm suprised they packed it like this.
If I remember correctly, the clear cyborg head from the Ultraman was packed in the box but not on the figure.
I'm not 100% sure though.

Not THAT big a deal, there isn't any damage and the head looks fine.
I just wanted to take it off, but it looks like I'll ruin it trying.

You might want to try to get it off and put some kind of barrier between the vinyls before they get any worse.

yeah, I won't be putting the outer Devilman head back on over the clear cyborg head anyway.
I really wanted this guy just for my "MIB" collection but the auction had conflicting information.

Mint in the box from the1960's television series Movie.
Figure comes mint in the sealed box, new.
Comes from an adult collector smoke free environment.
Never displayed so there is no fading.
Figures Come MIB Mint in box.
Box has been opened and shows some storage wear along the edges
and points so the box is not mint.

haha, I would have questioned to the seller but it was listed like this :

Listed in category: Toys & Hobbies > Action Figures > TV, Movie & Video Games > Ultraman

No mention of Takara or Henshin Cyborg,
so I figured I'd win it for a great price no matter what the true condition was.
I won it for $57 and $10 shipping with 11 bids on the auction.
Of course, I only bid once. My bid was the first. My bid was the best.
Cool
It's probably best to open these figures anyway, because of the melting, etc.
It's nice that the costume on this one is made from material,
not cheap vinyl, like the Ultraman Jack costume.
Sorry for re-hashing all this information out again.
I know this topic has been discussed over and over again.
I just can't determine if it is the melting/chemical reaction that did this
or did Takara purposely heat seal the heads onto some of these figures?

Nah, itís part of the crappy plastic issue.

I recently obtained a vintage Dokuroking and purple KWI, so I decided to display that and take the Dokuroking costume off my reissue to display him as KW. The outer KW head had fused to the neck and tore away, leaving a small layer of the head vinyl stuck around the neck. It fits back on fine, and he displays nicely, although the face looks a bit pinched after living inside the skeleton mask for a few years. Iím sure Iíll find the same if I try the heads on my green and red reissue KWIs. Best not to even go there.

I think the vinyl is the same as it always was, but itís the new type of ďhardĒ plastic that is at fault. It reacts with vinyl. Iíve said this before but I wonder if the moulds they made can be used for casting more reissues in decent plastic.

Probably both (considering the crazing on the repro bodies) I was referring to the vinyl to vinyl melt on the heads.
